PHOENIX – The Arizona School Board Association’s immediate past president, Jesus Rubalcava and Gila Bend school board president, was selected to serve as Pacific Region director on the National School Board Association’s Board of Directors. Rubalcava received the nod from the committee to continue serving as the Pacific Region director representing the eight states of the Pacific Region. His office will run through April 2019.
Rubalcava is also a special education teacher for the Bales Elementary School in the Buckeye Elementary School District. He has served on various committees such as finance, governance, policies and resolutions for ASBA and NSBA. He is ASBA’s Hispanic vice-president of the Hispanic Native American Indian Caucus and secretary of the NSBA National Hispanic Council of School Board Members. Rubalcava is also a Legislative District 4 candidate for the Arizona House of Representatives.
The Arizona School Boards Association is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting elected local governance of public education and continuous improvement of student success by providing leadership and assistance to school district governing boards statewide. ASBA represents more than 1,000 school board members and more than 1 million Arizona children.
