During the 2016 Legislative session, the Legislature passed a bill that did away with the statutory formula for A-F letter grades and gave the responsibility for developing a new formula to the Arizona State Board of Education (SBE). This bill coincided with the passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act by Congress, giving greater flexibility to states on school accountability.
