ASBA ED Search Firm Selected Plus County Directors Engage with Board Presidents

Your ASBA 2024 Board of Directors update

Your ASBA 2024 Board of Directors is excited to announce that the Executive Director Search Committee, made up of members from diverse backgrounds across Arizona, selected GR Recruiting as the firm to conduct the search for ASBA’s new Executive Director. This recommendation was also ratified by the entire ASBA Board of Directors in March.

The committee is now working on developing a timeline and criteria for the Executive Director application process, using survey results to inform their decisions. The goal is to select a candidate who will begin by July 1, 2024.

The committee members, including Desiree Fowler, ASBA President; Tadeo De La Hoya, ASBA President-Elect; John Sparks, ASBA Treasurer; Mitra Khazai, ASBA Secretary; Mike Hughes, ASBA Past President; Ed Buster, Vail USD Board Member; and John Fung, former Arizona Association of School Business Officials Executive Director, bring a wealth of experience and dedication to this important task.

ASBA County Director Zoom Meetings for Board Presidents

ASBA is pleased to offer an exceptional opportunity for all board presidents to connect and engage with their local school district community through ASBA County Director Zoom Meetings that start on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. These 30-minute meetings facilitated by dedicated ASBA County Directors, provide a platform for sharing districts’ insights, concerns and successes and provide a valuable space for open dialogue and collaboration, fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges and triumphs within our school boards.

Subscriber Survey Aims to Fine-Tune ASBA Policy Initiatives

To ensure we’re on the right track, ASBA has requested insights from districts who are policy subscribers in the ASBA Policy Subscriber Survey by Friday, March 22. Member feedback helps ASBA enhance policies and initiatives to better serve members’ needs and the broader community. An email was sent to your district’s assigned Super User. Responses will directly influence the direction of ASBA’s future policies, enabling us to address the most pressing issues facing our school districts.

ASBA Engagement in Regional Superintendents’ Meetings

ASBA Acting Director Ellen White, President Desiree Fowler, Executive Assistant Kristi Sisk and County Directors have diligently participated in regional superintendents’ meetings across the state. These gatherings have offered a valuable opportunity to interact with members, provide updates on the association’s progress and deliberate on future plans.

Upcoming meetings will be in Graham/Greenlee and Cochise counties. Our unwavering commitment to restoring the trust and integrity of ASBA remains steadfast, and these meetings have played a pivotal role in advancing this objective.
