Message From ASBA President, Steven Chapman

ASBA forms member and partner engagement committee

steven chapman

Fellow ASBA members, education stakeholders and education advocates,

I would like to speak with you about transitions, accessibility and engagement with ASBA and myself. Last month, we announced two changes that would be happening in ASBA – the transition of the president of our association and that our executive director would be retiring in January 2020. I want to assure you that while at times the faces of our organization may change, its dedication to serving our members and over one million students, remains the same.

During our executive director search process, the ASBA board of directors will work very diligently to find the best person to continue moving our association in our efforts towards educational equity, advocacy and meaningful professional development opportunities for our members and partners. A new executive director will be named by December 2019.

With my time as president of ASBA, I hope to work with you all to ensure that I, and this association, are accessible and engaging with our stakeholders and supporters. It is critical now more than ever, that the public education community sticks together to ensure policy and funding outcomes equitably serve all Arizona students. We can see the landscape is changing and there has been an increase in public support and engagement with us over the last few years.

With that in mind, I am announcing the formation of a member and partner engagement committee to seek new opportunities and expand our existing partnerships.

Let us continue growing our network and increasing our effectiveness in advocacy together. Our students are counting on us.
