The Arizona School Boards Association would like to thank Dr. Sheila Harrison-Williams for serving as the Executive Director over the last three and a half years. Under her leadership, many significant accomplishments occurred including leading the association and supporting ASBA members during the pandemic which was a time of crisis for our public schools, the passage of HNAIC bylaws that created an additional seat on the ASBA Board of Directors and much more.
In announcing her retirement to ASBA’s Board of Directors and staff, Dr. Harrison-Williams said, “It’s been such an honor to lead an organization with a vision to have the best schools in every community, representing over 1 million students in Arizona. I’m proud of our organization for creating a culture that lives by that vision every day.”
During the last three and a half years, Dr. Harrison-Williams met with members in every county and learned first-hand the issues that impacted the students, families and communities across the state. It was her vision to ensure that every board member felt like ASBA was their association, an association that represents school board members who represent their communities.
Mr. Devin Del Palacio has been named as the new Executive Director by the ASBA Board of Directors.
Mr. Del Palacio’s credentials extend beyond conventional parameters. Notably, he is a former member of the ASBA Board of Directors and currently serves as a school board member in the Tolleson Union High School District. His extensive experience and profound knowledge of the educational sector is incredibly pertinent to our work. His understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within our state’s education system is unparalleled, making him an invaluable asset to the ASBA.
Mr. Del Palacio has proven to be a dynamic and visionary leader in his previous roles, displaying a deep commitment to strategic planning and operational management. His forward outlook and his talent for inspiring and motivating teams align perfectly with ASBA’s vision for the future. ASBA has the utmost faith that Mr. Del Palacio’s innovative thinking, dedication and passion will propel the association into an exciting new era of growth and success.
ASBA is eager for the unique perspective and expertise he brings, particularly his deep understanding of Arizona’s educational landscape. The ASBA Board of Directors firmly believe that under his leadership, the association can overcome challenges, seize new opportunities and drive ASBA to greater heights.
