ASBA appreciates Governor Ducey’s continued focus on K-12 public education in his priorities for the 2019 Legislative session and FY20 state budget.
The governor is correct that teacher pay continues to be a top priority for school districts – ASBA also expects the Legislature is going to fulfill last year’s commitments on base level funding and District Additional Assistance. We look forward to working with the administration on school safety, additional funding for career and technical education, and ways to build the teacher pipeline in Arizona. In addition, ASBA will continue to work with policy-makers to seek additional and sustainable revenue for our member districts.
We are excited to get to work at the Legislature to ensure Arizona maintains its momentum and focus on rebuilding a competitive K-12 education system.
We are challenged to lay the groundwork to make sure the Arizona of tomorrow remains strong for a better future for all students in public district schools. This can only happen by working together.
We look forward to learning more about the Governor’s budget proposal which will be unveiled this Friday.
