Free webinars to provide overview of running for and serving on a school board

PHOENIX—Hundreds of school board seats in Arizona will be up for election this November, and the deadline for submitting materials necessary to run is just a few months away. To assist those who are interested in running for a seat on their local governing board, the Arizona School Boards Association, a non-partisan, non-profit organization

that provides leadership and assistance to public school governing boards statewide, is hosting free informational webinars on the basics of board service and what it takes to run. Individuals who are considering running are encouraged to participate in one of the two webinars. They are scheduled for Monday, April 16, 6:30-7:30 p.m., and Wednesday, May 9, from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Indiana superintendent selected to lead ASBA as executive director

PHOENIX – The board of directors of the Arizona School Boards Association today announced the selection of Dr. Timothy Ogle, superintendent of schools in one of Indiana’s highest achieving and fastest growing school districts, as its new executive director. Ogle has been credited with providing visionary leadership to the Avon, Ind., school district since becoming superintendent in 2005. He was selected to lead ASBA after a highly competitive national search which began in August. He will join the organization on Feb. 6.
