Celebrating Classroom Innovation and Student Success: ASBA’S $500 Classroom Grant

Bethany Barton from Desert Valley Elementary, in the Bullhead City Elementary School District, is celebrating a big win as an ASBA Classroom Grant recipient!

Her initiative will help students’ reading skills by introducing them to informational texts through a Scholastic News magazine subscription. In doing so, she hopes to broaden her students’ knowledge and help them develop critical thinking skills through improved comprehension.

This will address the needs of 2nd graders in Title One schools with low economic status. The Scholastic New Magazine subscription will provide crucial literacy skills that support the district’s goal in ensuring every student is provided the same opportunities.

Let’s congratulate Heather John from Casa Grande Middle School in the Casa Grande Elementary School District. Our second recipient of the $500 ASBA Classroom Grant!

Her mission? To educate students about the human impact on the environment in a hands-on way. Heather plans to utilize KidWind, a mini turbine tower harnessing wind and solar power. Students will get to design and test their own turbine blades. Delving into the world of renewable energy, while learning new ways to safeguard the environment. Here’s to Heather paving the way for a greener future, one classroom at a time.

ASBA generously provided a promotional kit to school districts to celebrate their teacher grant recipients. This kit includes resources and materials to help districts showcase and honor the outstanding achievements of their educators, including recognition at a school board meeting.

The ASBA Classroom Grants aim to enable educators to bring their creative visions to life, fostering enhanced learning opportunities and academic growth for students statewide. Grant winners are selected quarterly, with each recipient awarded $500 to implement their proposed projects or initiatives. ASBA provides two $500 grants to teachers every quarter.  For more information, click here.
