Day 5
This Week’s Recap
The Legislature hit the ground running this week! As of this email, 851 bills have been introduced so far. The Senate Education committee added a new member, Senator Borrelli, and had its first meeting of the year. SB 1082, the controversial sex education bill we sent an email about last Friday, was pulled from the agenda at the last minute. The committee heard two non-controversial bills and lots of public testimony on comprehensive sex education. Governor Ducey delivered his State of the State address on Monday and released his Executive Budget Proposal today, the summary of which is below. Rumor has it that the Legislature would like to pass the budget much earlier in the session than in years past, so this is an important first step in that process.
