Day 96
This Week’s Recap
The Legislature is slowly passing the remainder of the bills, waiting for word on budget negotiations. This week, two bills ASBA is monitoring:
HB 2303 (schools; computer science; mathematics; science) and SB 1073 (school district consolidations; elections)–passed on Final Read and are ready for the Governor. HB 2176 (college credit by examination; payments) was signed by the Governor this week and will go into effect on the general effective date.
Updates from the State Board
On Monday, the State Board of Education held a special meeting to finalize the 2018-2019 A-F letter grade system for high school, and to receive information regarding the future of the statewide assessment system in Arizona following receipt of a letter from USDOE disapproving Arizona’s current plan for the high school menu of assessments. Read the result of those discussions in ASBA Connect.
On Monday, April 29, the Board will hold its regular meeting for April. View the materials for that meeting here.
