Budget Watch 2019
The House and Senate Appropriations Committees met today to consider budget bills for FY20.

The House Appropriations Committee passed the K-12 BRB by a vote of 6-5 and Senate Appropriations passed it by a vote of 6-4.
If all goes according to plan, the chambers will come back in the morning to debate and consider floor amendments in COW and third read the budget in the early hours of Friday morning.

SB 1545 empowerment scholarships; qualified school
The Senate Appropriations Committee unanimously approved SB 1545, which creates a session law solution for several families on the Navajo Nation who had been mistakenly awarded Empowerment Scholarship Accounts to attend a school in New Mexico. ASBA is supportive of this narrowly tailored solution. House Appropriations has an identical bill on its agenda for tomorrow morning.
