Day 132
Budget Watch 2019
Late last night, the House approved all of the budget bills. The K-12 BRB, HB 2749, was passed by a vote of 31-28. The adopted floor amendments appear to address the wish list of several legislators who had been withholding their budget votes. These amendments include:
- $1M to ADE in FY20 for Gifted Education
- Increases the appropriation to the School Safety Program from $15M to $20M
- Removes the Arizona Community Schools Pilot Program
- Requires the Attorney General to forward a receipt of complaints of violations of using school resources to influence an election (15-511) to the Senate President, Speaker of the House, and the Governor’s Office.

The Senate is scheduled to return to the floor at 10 am today and may make some progress on passing the budget bills, while the House is recessed until Monday.
