Trauma Sensitive Schools Symposium (Virtual)

December 6-8, 2023

Trauma Sensitive Schools Symposium

School board members and superintendents are invited to learn more about the impact of trauma on students and how to promote resilience for all at the 2023 Trauma Sensitive Schools Symposium. This fully funded, free educational event will be held virtually on June 6 and all ASBA members are welcome to attend. ASBA is a partner, along with the Arizona Adverse Childhood Experiences Consortium and several other organizations, in this year’s event. Last year nearly 600 Arizona public school educators registered.

 Tamar Mendelson, Ph.D.

Dr. Tamar Mendelson is a Bloomberg Professor of American Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is Director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Adolescent Health and Chair of the Adolescent Health steering committee of the Bloomberg American Health Initiative.

The theme for this year’s Trauma Sensitive Schools Symposium is “Resilience is Resistance”. We will host a range of engaging sessions that will expand participants’ knowledge of trauma-sensitive school systems and education approaches – particularly focusing on the power of resilience, and the many definitions the word holds, in our current educational systems and communities at large. ASBA is proud to be a partner of Whova, an online event platform, in presenting this event.
