Supporting Our Students: Disrupting the “School to Prison Pipeline”

There are many influences, characteristics and circumstances that can impact our student access and outcomes. Statistically, students who are suspended are more likely to be involved in the juvenile justice and later adult justice systems. Sunnyside USD will share what they are doing to support students and disrupt this trend known as the “school to prison pipeline”.

We will also hear from Lori Robinson LMSW, Juvenile Detention Education Transition Manager stationed at the Durango Juvenile Detention Facility who will discuss things school district can do to help transition students from detention center education back into public schools.
