2018 HNAIC Caucus Officer & Director Nomination Form

  • Any paid regular member of the Hispanic-Native American Indian Caucus may run for an officer or director position on the caucus. A nominating committee appointed by the caucus executive committee will review all eligible nominations received by Nov. 15, 2018, via this online form, and develop of slate of candidates. Terms are two years.

    Voting will take place at the HNAIC Annual Membership Meeting on Dec. 13, 2018, at 3:45 p.m. (held in conjunction with the ASBA-ASA Annual Conference). Candidates for these positions may also be nominated by regular members from the floor at the annual meeting.

    HNAIC Bylaws: ARTICLE IV, BOARD OF DIRECTORS Section 4: President. The office of the President should alternate between a Hispanic and a Native American member. The President shall preside at all meetings of the Caucus and the Executive Committee. The President shall appoint all standing and special committees and shall be an ex officio member of all committees, except the nominating committee, with voting power. The President shall sign all official reports of the Caucus. The President shall serve on the ASBA Board of Directors as stated in the ASBA By-laws.

    Section 5: Vice Presidents. There shall be two Vice-Presidents, one of whom shall represent the Hispanic community and one who shall represent the Native American Indian community. The Vice-Presidents shall be members of the Executive Committee. In the absence of the President, the Vice-Presidents shall have and perform all the powers and duties of the President.

    Section 6: Secretary. The Secretary shall keep the minutes and records, and shall see that all notices are duly given in accordance with the provisions of law and these Bylaws, and such other duties as from time-to-time may be assigned by the Executive Committee.

    Section 7: Treasurer. The Treasurer shall have the responsibility for receiving and disbursing all funds related to the Caucus in coordination with the ASBA liaison. The Treasurer shall collect all dues and issue receipts and maintain a roster of the current membership. The Treasurer shall report regularly to the Executive Committee, shall prepare a written yearly financial report to be distributed to the members at each annual meeting, and shall perform other duties assigned by the Executive Committee.

    Section 8: Regional Directors. There shall be six (6) Regional Directors. The Regional Directors shall live in the region which they represent. Regional Directors are members of the Executive Committee. The Regional Directors shall report issues from their region to the Executive Committee and shall perform other duties assigned by the executive committee. The six regions shall be as follows:
    • Region I - Maricopa County
    • Region II - Pima County
    • Region III - Apache, Coconino, Navajo, and Yavapai Counties
    • Region IV – La Paz, Mohave, and Yuma Counties
    • Region V - Gila and Pinal Counties
    • Region VI - Cochise, Greenlee, Graham, and Santa Cruz Counties
