Dear ASBA School Board Members,

I hope this email finds you well. As the Immediate Past Chair of the ASBA Black Alliance, I am reaching out to encourage you to consider submitting your name for consideration to serve as Chair or Vice Chair for our esteemed alliance.

The ASBA Black Alliance is a vital group within the Arizona School Boards Association, dedicated to enhancing opportunities and outcomes for Black students in our communities. Through various activities, we strive to promote equity in education, improve service delivery, enhance recruitment efforts, increase access to allies and foster cultural and social competence among public education leaders and partners.

Serving as Chair or Vice Chair of the ASBA Black Alliance is a significant opportunity to make a tangible impact on the educational landscape in Arizona. The Chair of the Black Alliance not only serves on the ASBA Board of Directors but also plays key roles in the ASBA Legislative Committee and ASBA Equity Committee.

According to the Alliance bylaws, only the Black Alliance Chair must be of African American descent. However, we encourage all interested individuals to get involved and serve in whichever capacity aligns with their passion and expertise. Both terms end in December of 2025.

All submissions will be presented at an upcoming ASBA Black Alliance meeting to be voted on according to the bylaws. More details regarding the date and time of this meeting will be communicated to you soon.

Click here to submit your name for consideration to serve as Chair or Vice Chair of ASBA Black Alliance.

Deadline to submit is Friday, March 8, 2024, by 5 p.m.

Should there be any questions or further clarifications needed regarding your submission, please do not hesitate to reach out to Kristi Sisk at She will be more than happy to assist you.

Your participation and dedication are integral to the success of the ASBA Black Alliance, and we warmly welcome your involvement.

Thank you for your commitment to equity in education and your willingness to serve the students of Arizona.

Warm regards,

Berdetta Hodge
Immediate Past Chair
