RESOURCES | RESOURCE CENTER

We want to thank all the school boards who are taking a stance in opposing the expansion of Empowerment Scholarship Accounts by passing resolutions at their school board meetings. As you know, Senate Bill 1431.

was recently passed by the Legislature to expand ESAs beginning in 2017-18. Since the program was introduced in 2011, Arizona has spent $99.7 million funding ESAs. This is a direct conflict with ASBA’s Political Agenda and a massive blow to our K-12 public schools.

We encourage all school boards to pass this resolution at your next school board meeting. Together, we will stand united declaring a clear opposition of ESAs.

Please send your signed resolution to Leigh Jensen, ASBA’s Governmental Relations Associate.

Thank you to the following school boards who have officially passed the ESA resolution on behalf of their students, teachers, parents and community.

  • The differences between district and ESA academic accountability requirements
  • While ALEC’s draft “The Educational Savings Account Act” included numerous academic accountability standards, the legislation introduced and passed in Arizona in 2011, which was based on it, did not include any of them.
