Veronica Sanchez is a Director with Arizona State University’s Office of Media Relations & Strategic Communications. Veronica joined ASU in 2022 after serving more than 20 years in broadcast news and school public relations. At ASU, she manages the media relations team and executes media outreach initiatives that support the charter and the university’s goal of academic excellence.

Prior to ASU, Veronica began her career as a news radio anchor and then transitioned to a television reporter at the FOX affiliate in Fresno, California. She then moved on to report at the ABC affiliate in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she spent two years. In 2004, she accepted a breaking news reporter position at 12 News in Phoenix, the NBC affiliate. The following year she won an Emmy for her story of a decorated, Hispanic WWII veteran forced to pick up the pieces after a devastating house fire. Later at 12 News, she was promoted to Call 12 for Action, the consumer investigative unit of the station, where she saved television viewers a record $2 million in one year.

In 2010, when 12 News merged with the Arizona Republic, Veronica wrote a weekly consumer advice column. In 2015, she accepted the position of public relations director at the Cartwright School District #83. While at Cartwright, Veronica raised the external media presence of the district and helped her team win more than 20 ASPRA (Arizona School Public Relations Awards), something the district had never achieved in its more than 100-year history.

Veronica graduated from Fresno State University with two bachelor’s degrees: Mass Communication & Journalism and with honors in Chicano Latino Studies.
